Lady Rose Sorority honors the in our organization by appointing them as Queen Mothers. Nominations for Queen Mothers take place every five years. This year we will be installing several Queen Mothers during coronation ceremonies.
The role of the Queen Mother is to be a custodian of culture and leader within the sisterhood. She works as a community liaison between the members, community and the organization. Queen Mothers are selected for appointment as either a Regional Queen Mother - one who presides over all chapters within one state, or a City Queen Mother - one who presides over one chapter within her city.
Our Queen Mothers are sixth degree members, women age 40 and older, who have achieved the following rites of passage: honed a craft or talent, entered marriage, experienced motherhood (by birth, adoption or fostering children), they have obtained education possessing either a degree, trade, and/or business training. Queen Mothers have also achieved land ownership or home ownership. After the coronation they are officially recognized in the corporate structure of their presiding chapter.
The coronation is a beautiful ceremony that is open for all members, their families and friends to attend. This is considered a community event to honor our Queens. Please continue to follow our blog or events for information regarding upcoming coronation ceremonies.
